The Halls, Billy, Helen & Joan Ellis
In 1948, the Shawnigan Lake property was passed down to the Clay children following their mother’s death.
Helen (Clay) Ellis built the family’s Pan-Abode cabin in 1948, while Jack and Laura Clay constructed their cabin a year earlier, in 1947. Remarkably, both cabins are still in use today. Helen and Billy Ellis lived in Vancouver before relocating to Victoria in the early 1950s.
After the original cabin burned down in the fall of 1946, Helen Clay and her sisters had a Pan-Abode cabin built for them in 1948. A year earlier, in 1947, their brother Jack built the other cabin with his new wife, Laura.
