The Halls, Billy, Helen & Joan Ellis
Following their mother’s death in 1948, ownership of the Shawnigan Lake property was passed down to the Clay children. By 1947, Jack Clay and his new wife, Laura, had already built their cabin. After the original family cabin was destroyed by fire in the fall of 1946, Helen (Clay) Ellis and the Clay sisters commissioned a Pan-Abode cabin in 1948.
Remarkably, both cabins remain standing and are still enjoyed by family members today. Helen (Clay) Ellis and her husband, Billy, initially lived in Vancouver before relocating to Victoria in the early 1950s, where they continued to make the Shawnigan Lake property an important part of their family life.
