2000 – 2005
We have had several family weddings, work parties and celebrations at Shawnigan. Our father, Dick Ellis’ birthday was on August 16th, 1925.
He always celebrated with many of his friends and family on that day every year.
Hence, we celebrate weddings here on that date.
Debbie Ellis married Michael Battler on August 17, 2002.
Duncan & Jessica Gardiner were married on August 2, 2008,
2005 – 2010
Renting the Panabode: 2006 – 2021
To help preserve our cherished Shawnigan lakeside property, we began renting out the larger Pan-A-bode cabin during the summer months, starting in July 2006 and continuing through to September 2021.
This seasonal vacation rental played a vital role in covering annual property taxes and funding ongoing maintenance, repairs, and much-needed renovations, allowing us to keep the cabin and surrounding land in good condition for everyone to enjoy.
In the photos below, you’ll see our mother, Shirley Ellis, who was instrumental during our spring and fall work parties. Her dedication to painting projects and her careful tending of the burn pile fires helped keep the property looking beautiful and safe for all who visited.
Thanks to these combined efforts—both from rentals and the hands-on help of friends and family—the lake property remains a treasured retreat to this day.
